Ty Lawson Traded To Houston Rockets, Currently In Rehab After Second DUI In 2015

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets were the top two franchises looking to acquire 27-year-old guard Ty Lawson if he were made available. Tonight, the Denver Nuggets shipped Lawson and a second round pick to the Rockets in exchange for a 2016 first round pick, as well as Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson, and Kostas Papanikolaou, according to ESPN.

Lawson, who played collegiately at North Carolina, has found himself in trouble with the law twice this year alone for drunk driving, and is currently admitted in a rehab facility for substance abuse.

Last season with Denver, Ty averaged 15.2 points per game, to go along with 9.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds over 75 regular season games, per Basketball Reference.

Through six professional seasons in the NBA, Lawson has averaged 14.2 points per game, 6.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds.

Here are some immediate reactions from Twitter.

With the addition of seventh overall pick Emmanuel Mudiay in Denver following the 2015 NBA Draft, Lawson (along with his off the court issues) became expendable.

What do you make of Ty joining up with James Harden in Houston? Is this a good move by the Rockets?
